BNR congratulates its client, legendary filmmaker and story-teller Hype Williams, for his work on the Launch of NFL QB Tom Brady’s “Brady Brand”. NFL star and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady launched a new clothing line, the “Brady Brand”, and tapped iconic director and photographer Hype Williams for its first ever campaign. Hype Williams, who continues to leave his imprint on Hip Hop culture through his music videos, films, and photography, masterfully captured the legendary quarterback as a modern-day Superman.
“Shooting with Tom taught me a valuable lesson,“ says Williams. “It never dawned upon me that one of the greatest athletes in the history of the world could still be so humble in front of my camera. By being so open and letting me dive in with him to find the ‘idea’ of Brady Brand, he really taught me a lot about what’s still possible; how much more we can all do together to keep pushing boundaries and raising the bar.”
Buzzfeed recently called Hype the “Best Music Video Director” of all time for his “groundbreaking visuals that are a paragon of cinematographic excellence.” His fish-eye lens helped to shine the spotlight on such top-selling artists as Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, John Legend, Beyonce, Nas, DMX, Missy Elliott and P. Diddy. The Hollis, Queens native initially aspired to become a painter. Basquiat and Keith Haring served as his modern-day inspirations, but Hype’s graffiti-tagging art morphed into a career behind the camera as an award-winning music video director. In 1998, Hype leapt from the small screen to the big screen with his feature film debut, Belly, starring Nas. He has earned accolades from The Billboard Music Awards, VMAs and The NAACP Image Awards.
